Colin Rathje re-joined Kelly, Rode & Kelly after first having been an associate with the firm from 2008 to 2016. In the interim his practice focused primarily on defending medical malpractice actions on behalf of physicians and major hospital systems in the New York City area, and also served as in house counsel to insurance companies, defending significant personal injury, property damage, and other tort cases. He has successfully tried a number of cases to verdict throughout the New York metropolitan area and has also successfully written and argued several appeals. He is admitted to the New York State courts as well as the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
Colin served six years in the United States Navy, working in the engine room of a nuclear powered guided missile cruiser. After being honorably discharged, he continued to work in power plants while attending law school at night. Since graduating cum laude from the Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 2002, he has coached high school moot court teams and been judge or jury in several moot court competitions on the regional and national level.
